The Coastguard said the incident had been a "nightmare scenario" for Chenai and Ben, adding: "On scene SFRS and SORT deployed officers to the casualty assisted by Coastguard units and after several attempts, were able to release the casualty who was up to their chest in water by this time. The Coastguard says people confronted with quicksand should call 999, stay calm, spread their weight as much as possible, and avoid moving while waiting for help to arrive. Quicksand is difficult to escape because the material, which is part-liquid, solidifies at rest after being displaced. She said: "I'm getting a lot of support from my partner and my family and I'm doing a lot better." The experience has left Chenai frightened to go back to the beach, but apart from some bruising and spraining, she has come away from the experience unharmed. Thankfully, after a few hours, she was given the all-clear and allowed to go home. As she was taken back to shore, Chenai went into shock and was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
